August 1:

Kitchen: Connell Team

Mission: PADS

PADS (Providing Advocacy, Dignity, Shelter)

provides shelter for the homeless. Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church (RCLPC) supports PADS by providing lunches for those without shelter.

RCLPC volunteers purchase food and assemble lunches twice a month:

• From May-September, RCLPC volunteers purchase food and assemble lunches each Friday morning. The lunches are delivered to the PADS emergency and transitional shelter in Woodstock.

•From October-April, lunches are delivered to the churches that provide overnight shelter.

The lunches are taken by the clients when they leave the shelter the next morning.

Currently RCLPC is the only church in McHenry County serving Friday lunches.

Mission
: RCLPC (church) Music Ministry

Regarded by many as the heart of the worship experience at Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church throughout its 175-year history, our music ministry enriches and enlivens worship through a wide variety of music, from more traditional classical and modern choral works, to gospel, jazz—even African drumming. The all-volunteer choirs  and band include members of all ages and varying backgrounds, with musical experience ranging from beginner to professional.  Rather than performance ensembles or concert choirs, the RCLPC music ministry act as Ministers of Congregational Singing, inviting and welcoming all listeners to experience God’s grace through music.

Over $3300 was raised for charities!

Mission: Covenant Network

The Covenant Network of Presbyterians is the voice of positive transformation in the Presbyterian Church.  The Network is called to achieve this goal by furthering the support, affirmation and full inclusion of LGBTQ persons.  Their mission is to be a church as generous and just as God's grace.

July 25:

Kitchen: Mission Team
Mission: Care for Children Overseas

RCLPC provides annual scholarships for three students at both of the following locations so that the children can continue to learn and grow with the compassion and support of their teachers and staff:
• The Colegio Americano de Apartadó (an institution of the Presbyterian Church of Colombia, present in the country for more than 150 years) was founded in 1986 in the Urabá region, an area very affected by the violence in Colombia. Many of its elementary students come from displaced families.
• Fairhaven School in Alexandria, Egypt is a special school for youth with developmental disabilities that was started by RCLPC's sister church, El Saray, in Egypt. The students there receive room and board, vocational training, and an opportunity to live productive lives surrounded by a supportive staff.

July 26:

Kitchen: RCLPC Men's Group
Mission: Build a Dream

Build a Dream is a small charitable organization enabling children in the small community of El Vaquero, Mexico to receive the necessary education to rise out of the poverty that surrounds them. After 6th grade, financial restraints and family needs usually mean the end of a child’s education and continuation of the poverty cycle. By stepping in and providing scholarship support for the kids to stay in school, we can break this poverty cycle and have partnered with a very special middle school that is doing just that.

July 31:

Kitchen: LWW Mission Team
Mission: Living Waters for the World

Living Waters for the World, a PC(USA) ministry, trains and equips mission teams to share the gift of sustainable clean water with communities in need. Over the last 20 years, 715 clean water systems have been installed in communities around the world. A team from Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church has been trained to manage a project, provide health education to community trainers, and teach local water managers how to install and operate a water purification system. Donations will assist the team in purchasing the water system.
